The Serra de Tramuntana, Before and After

A photography exhibition comparing the Serra de Tramuntana as it was in the late 19th century with how it looks today. Lluc Julià retook photographs from the exact vantage points of engravings by Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria, revealing changes in heritage and landscape.

The project

A rephotography project drawing on the engravings from the Archduke's Die Balearen. The digital archive already holds 150 rephotographs of the Balearic Islands; this exhibition shows a selection of 9 representative sites from the Tramuntana.
