Car hire in Mallorca without a credit card
52 companies in our list accept a debit card or cash, or say they take no deposit. Read how deposit holds work first: “no deposit” often depends on buying the company's own full cover.
How deposit holds work
A deposit hold (pre-authorisation) blocks money on your card when you collect the car. It is not charged, but you cannot spend it until the company releases it after you return the car. The release can take from a few days to a few weeks, depending on your bank.
The hold is often as large as the excess, which can be €1,000 or more. Most companies accept only a credit card in the main driver's name for it. Buying the company's own zero-excess cover usually makes the hold smaller or removes it. In this list, 16 companies say they take no deposit, mostly with that cover.

“No deposit” often applies only with the company's own full cover, and some exclude young drivers or premium cars. Always read the terms linked on each row.
Broker insurance or the desk's own cover
Booking sites sell their own “full protection”. It is a refund policy: if the car is damaged, the rental company charges your card and you claim the money back from the booking site or its insurer.
The desk does not count that policy, so it still blocks the full deposit and may offer its own cover again at pickup. If you want no hold on your card, buy the rental company's own zero-excess cover, online or at the desk.
