Gaudí's Palma

About this event

Gaudí's Palma — temporary exhibition

Between 1902 and 1914, Antoni Gaudí returned to Mallorca many times to work on the restoration of the cathedral. This exhibition looks beyond the Seu to show the city he knew: a Palma in full transformation, where new ideas and fashions were reshaping its streetscape.

What you will see

Original documents, period photographs and firsthand accounts trace how the commission from Bishop Campins came about, which places Gaudí frequented, and the relationships he built with architects, artists and figures of Mallorcan culture. A highlight is the Casa Balet in Son Armadans, now demolished, which was considered for a possible intervention by Gaudí and shows how far his influence reached beyond religious commissions.
